In the U.S. alone over 26 million Volkswagen Beetles were sold between 1955 and 1974! Many can be found in farmers fields, barns and back alleys in various states of disrepair. And thought by their owners to be not worth anything beyond the price of scrap metal. WHAT is OVERLOOKED? Beneath these rusted and twisted Volkswagen body's is a rugged stub frame and transaxle unit of which 90 out of a 100 will be in good to excellent shape. By purchasing the entire car, you will not only acquire this valuable unit but also many small parts for use in construction of your P-40 chopper trike.
The Volkswagen itself weights approx—1850 lbs. Once transformed into the P-40 trike you will now have a machine that tips the scales at 850 lbs! This, in effect doubles the strength factor of all drive train components making them virtually indestructible and super dependable. With proper re-gearing of the transaxle through the use of a FREEWAY FLYER transmission, (which can be had Through transmission company's found in Hot Volkswagen magazine at nominal prices) you will then have:
♠ ONE: excellent gearing
♠ TWO: great economical gas mileage. Who says you have to pay $15,000 and more, for big bike performance? You don't! Plus half the fun is BUILDING IT! Seeing your own creation coming together in your warm garage is a great way to pass those cold winter nights!
